Actor James Dean’s original gravestone, missing since it was stolen about four years ago, is back in Fairmount, Ind., his hometown. The pink granite marker was found Wednesday behind Fire Station No. 10 in Fort Wayne, about 45 miles from Fairmount. The actor’s name, etched into the stone, is barely visible. “It was laying there close to where they burn trash behind the fire station,” said Ann Warr, director of the local James Dean Museum. The 300-lb. tombstone had rested undisturbed in Fairmount’s Park Cemetery for nearly 30 years before it was stolen in 1983. It was recovered and reset, but was stolen again three weeks later, Warr said.
