An additional 123 cases of AIDS were reported in Los Angeles County in April, bringing the total number of local victims of the deadly disease to 3,088, health officials said Thursday.

Two of the AIDS victims reported last month were children, raising to 18 the total number of local pediatric cases of acquired immune deficiency syndrome, according to a report by county Health Services Director Robert Gates.

The AIDS death toll was 1,904, or 62%, as of the end of April, Gates said.

AIDS cases reported in April declined from the 155 cases added in March.
