From Reuters
BEIJING —
China will start work soon on its biggest dam and on a hydroelectric power station that together will cost at least $1 billion, the New China News Agency said Friday.
It said the Ertan station, in the southwestern province of Sichuan, will have a capacity of 3,000 megawatts and a dam 240 yards high, the highest in China. China will put aside $1 billion for the project and will seek foreign loans, the agency added. It said the project will take 10 years to complete.
