Taximeter Exhibit

Share

An exhibit featuring taxicab meters from around the world is on display at the offices of the Assn. for Personal Transport on the Rothenbaumchaussee.

Cab meters range from the crude, heavy boxes of the early days to one-pound modern electronic meters. Included in the exhibit is a meter from Dayton, Ohio, built shortly after World War II that became known as the “million-dollar clockwork” after running up fares into the millions. There also is a German hackney cab meter dating back to the early 1900s.

The exhibit is open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m., Fridays from 8 a.m. to noon. Visitors are encouraged to call in advance, in Hamburg, at 44-86-43.
