More than 100 people rallied outside McConnell Air Force Base in Kansas in a peace demonstration, and officials detained 67 of them when they entered base property. Organizers said McConnell was picked for their protest because it was scheduled next year to receive 17 B-1B bombers, which are capable of carrying nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. The arrested protesters were taken in buses to a processing center, where they were fingerprinted and photographed, then were returned to their assembly point, Lt. Col. Paul Muehring, McConnell chief of public affairs, said.
