Israel’s Cabinet accepted the findings of a government panel today by taking collective responsibility for the espionage activities of Jonathan Pollard, an American Jew who sold U.S. secrets to Israel.

The Cabinet decision to accept the findings of a two-man committee appointed by Prime Minister Yitzhak Shamir came only hours after an independent parliamentary committee released a similar recommendation on the Pollard affair. (Story on Page 10.)

A government spokeswoman confirmed that, despite objections from some Cabinet ministers, the 10-member “inner Cabinet” agreed to accept the recommendations of the Rotenstreich-Tsur report, named for lawyer Yehoshua Rotenstreich and a former chief of staff, Zvi Tsur.
