Share

Former University of California, Santa Barbara, Chancellor Robert Huttenback and his wife, Freda, entered not guilty pleas in Santa Barbara Municipal Court on charges of embezzlement, evasion of state income taxes and insurance fraud. Huttenbeck resigned as chancellor at UC Santa Barbara last July after an auditor accused him of inappropriately using $174,000 of university funds for a personal residence. The Huttenbecks are charged with embezzlement in connection with the expenditures and also with failing to report the funds on state income tax returns. A preliminary hearing is set for July 27.
