2,000 Women Bicyclists Expected for 32-Mile Orange County Tour

Women interested in non-competitive bicycling will be able to ride 32 miles through Orange County on Sunday. More than 2,000 women are expected to participate in the first Women on a Roll bicycle tour.

The event, sponsored by City Sports Magazine, will start at 9 a.m. at the Hotel Meridien, 4500 MacArthur Blvd., Newport Beach. The course is a 32-mile loop. There will also be a 17-mile course for those wanting to cycle a shorter distance.

Participants will be guided by crews stationed along the course, and there will be breaks for refreshments. Afterward a Cycling Expo will be held, featuring cycling and fitness accessories, a fashion show and a $3 pasta lunch.

The entry fee is $15 for advance registrations and $20 on the day of the event. The fee covers the cost of a continental breakfast, water bottle, fanny pack and event T-shirt.
