Computer Sciences Wins $12.3-Million NASA Pact
Computer Sciences Corp. has received a five-year, $12.3-million contract from the National Aeronautics and Space Administrations’s Goddard Space Flight Center, Md.
The contract calls for the company to continue performing the operation functions for the scientific investigations of the International Ultraviolet Explorer program.
IUE is a satellite equipped with a telescope to observe celestial objects by ultraviolet light. It is currently being used for scientific observations of the supernova phenomenon.
In operating the IUE Observatory, CSC’s System Sciences division, headquartered in Silver Spring, Md., coordinates and conducts such activities as telescope scheduling and operations, scientific data analysis, systems analysis and software support. The CSC unit has performed this work since the satellite was launched in 1987.
