Saying that his work is interfering with his personal life, Ted Koppel said in an interview with Newsweek that he may quit anchoring the ABC News “Nightline” program. In an article published in this week’s issue, Koppel said he might try to join the next presidential administration, perhaps in the State Department, when his contract expires next year. “I’m just old enough that I’m coming to the lamentable conclusion that there’s no second time around,” the 47-year-old Koppel said. “There is more to life than what I’m doing now and I may very well stop it soon.” Koppel, who is paid more than $1 million a year, said there’s not “a snowball’s chance in hell” he will go to ABC “World News Tonight” or join another television network.
