MOVIES - June 9, 1987

More than $100,000 in prizes was awarded to 84 students by the UCLA Theater, Film and Television Department at its official student screenings and awards ceremony, New Visions, on the UCLA campus held over the weekend in Melnitz Theater. Among those students winning awards: Toni Gibson, the Federico De Laurentiis Memorial Award; Denise Mann, the Hugh Downs Graduate Research Fellowship; Nietzchka Keen, the Verna Fields Memorial Award; Micheline Berry, the Jim Morrison Award; and Jefferson Dunbar, George Gary, William Lockhart, Gregory Poirier and Shelly Riley, winners of the Jack Nicholson Award. A screening of selected animated, drama and documentary films, held after the awards ceremony, will be offered again to the public June 15.
