Fawn Hall was a ratings hit in Cable News Network’s daily coverage of the Iran- contra hearings, the network announced Tuesday. About 1.3 million homes tuned in Monday afternoon to watch the former secretary to National Security Council aide Lt. Col. Oliver L. North in her TV debut as a witness. That figure was the highest number yet for CNN’s daily installment of testimony before the joint congressional committees, said a spokesman. Hall beat out by 200,000 homes the May 7 appearance of retired Air Force Maj. Gen. Richard V. Secord.
