Share

The city’s Paint-Up/Fix-Up Program for low- and moderate-income residents has been approved by the Artesia City Council for the next fiscal year, beginning July 1, at a cost of $100,000.

The council renewed the contract of the nonprofit United Community and Housing Development Corp. of Los Angeles to continue repairing the homes of people who qualify for the program.

The program, which began in 1986, uses federal funds administered by the city. Last year, 128 residences were repaired. Projects included fixing roofs and driveways, removing hazardous trees, painting and re-stuccoing. Those who qualify can receive grants of up to $2,000 for repairs.
