Martha Tucker Fraud Case Postponed

A Los Angeles judge has postponed a preliminary hearing that was scheduled in the real estate fraud case against Martha A. Tucker, wife of Compton Mayor Walter R. Tucker.

Deputy Atty. Gen. Terry T. Fujimoto declined to comment on the reason for the postponement, but said he joined with Martha Tucker’s defense attorney in making the request. The hearing was reset for July 10.

Tucker and her sister, Barbara Hall, were arrested in January and charged with defrauding a Long Beach man of $45,000 by accepting the money in a real estate transaction but failing to deposit it in escrow. The two recently repaid the money as part of a civil suit settlement, but the criminal charges remain.
