‘Horrid Shoes’ Worn by Women

Share

After coming home from work and taking my tennis shoes off, I opened the paper to read that Glennsten Bergquist finds the practice of women wearing tennis shoes after work horrid.

I’m sorry I disgust this fashion critic, and though some women wear the shoes to be trendy, I, for one, have good reason to wear mine. After nine hours of pounding the floor in toe-pinching, heel-blistering, ankle-snapping pumps, I’m glad to put on a pair of comfortable shoes.

After work, I must run through several downtown blocks, sloshing through all kinds of street garbage, to catch a bus, on which I must stand for 1 1/2 hours while it lurches through p.m. traffic. I’m not about to do this in a pair of high heels.

Although slip-ons are “smart,” they tend to slip off, and they do not last. If tennis shoes will help keep my feet blister-bunyon- and corn-free, and keep me comfortably happy, I will continue to wear them.

In the meantime, I would suggest that Bergquist spend more time seeking a psychiatrist to give him treatment for his foot fetish.
