“Russian Folk Song and Dance.” Kultur. $59.95. “Moiseyev Dance Company.” V.I.E.W. $39.95. The Kultur tape provides an odd jumble of archival footage, documentary glimpses of Soviet village life and brief, badly shot performance sequences--some staged in cramped studios, others in scenic locations--nearly all edited down to disjointed highlights. At 78 minutes, this sampling of major ensembles includes music and dance from the Ukraine, Siberia and Moldavia. Information: (800) 458-5887. **. In contrast, the Moiseyev tape offers no background material but concentrates on documenting a 1980 performance at the Great Congress Hall in Moscow. Camera work and sound quality are sometimes uneven but the dancing is always exciting. Indeed, from the unusual opening (folk steps executed at classroom barres) to the spectacular “Gopak” finale, this is a far better program than the one presented by the Moiseyev in America last year.
