A British radio broadcaster was suspended Wednesday after saying on the air that Princess Diana was “a bit of a dog” and that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York, was frumpy and overweight. Calls flooded the switchboard at Beacon Radio, a commercial station in Wolverhampton, immediately after sports editor Pat Foley made the comments during a newscast. Station manager Alan Mullett said Foley was suspended for 48 hours and his position would be reviewed. Of the voluminous response Foley received about his knocks on the wives of Britain’s Prince Charles and Prince Andrew, Foley quipped: “I don’t really see what all the fuss is about. I don’t think that by marrying princes two people become the world’s most beautiful women.”
