The Nation : U.S. Sued on Probe Leaks

District of Columbia Mayor Marion S. Barry Jr. is suing the Justice Department and U.S. Atty. Joseph diGenova, charging prosecutorial abuse in allegedly leaking material to the news media in an investigation into city contracting. The lawsuit, filed in U.S. District Court, seeks unspecified sanctions against diGenova and investigators, as well as news organizations that have reported on the federal investigation since it was disclosed last month. DiGenova had cited allegations of fraud in the municipal government, revealing at a news conference that an FBI sting operation used a phony company to seek contracts with the city.
