The driver and four passengers of an RTD bus were injured when the bus struck a power pole at the corner of Bernard Street and Broadway in Chinatown, RTD officials said. The accident occurred as the Line 97 bus, carrying 27 passengers, was traveling south on Broadway. The driver suffered chest pains, RTD spokesman John Hyde said. The front of the bus was extensively damaged and it had to be towed away. The bus driver was taken to French Hospital in Chinatown, where he was in stable condition. Hyde said the extent of injuries to the four passengers was not known and he did not know where they were being treated.
