Mariano Duncan seems like an amiable young man who certainly deserves an A for effort. Trouble is, he’s hitting just .214 and leads the league in errors. Meanwhile down on the farm, the Albuquerque Dukes are in first place, propelled by their shortstop Brad Wellman and his .344 average and team-leading 29 RBIs.
All winter long the Dodgers excused their failure to sign Tim Raines with their usual rhetoric about “developing and promoting from within.” Well, Tommy, ain’t no time like the present.
