Jordan, Worthy Face UCLA Alumni in Game Honoring Wooden at Pauley

Michael Jordan and James Worthy are among 24 North Carolina alumni who will play an exhibition basketball game today at 1 p.m. at Pauley Pavilion against a team of 24 UCLA alumni to honor former UCLA basketball Coach John Wooden.

The game will be nationally televised by ABC, delayed until 3 p.m. on the West Coast.

Wooden will be on the bench as an honorary coach. Playing for UCLA will be Jamaal Wilkes, Curtis Rowe, Lucius Allen and Walt Hazzard. Dean Smith will be on the bench for the Tar Heels.

Some of the more recent Bruins who will play are first-round draft pick Reggie Miller, Darren Daye and Kiki Vandeweghe. Rod Foster, who suffered a severe leg injury in a Jeep accident toward the end of the 1986 NBA season, also is scheduled to play.

Close to 100 former UCLA players and coaches are expected to attend the game.

Tickets will be available at the door.
