Culver City Calls Public Hearing on Proposed Budget
The Culver City Council will hold a public hearing on its proposed 1987-88 budget at 7:30 p.m. Monday.
City departments have been asked to submit proposals on how their funding can be cut by 5% and 10% in an attempt to avoid using capital improvement money to balance the $44.4-million budget.
Mayor Richard Brundo said the council must find a combined $3 million in cuts and new revenues to balance the budget.
The council has pledged not to cut spending by laying off existing employees, but has instituted a hiring freeze on new city workers, Brundo said.
The meeting will convene at City Hall, 9770 Culver Blvd.
