The Los Angeles-based oil company said it will receive $322 million in cash for the sale of its United Gas Pipeline Co. and UER Marketing subsidiaries to LaSalle Energy Corp. of Dallas. In addition, LaSalle will assume $160 million in debt of the Occidental subsidiaries and will be responsible for disposing of litigation against them. The amount of potential litigation liability wasn’t immediately available, an Occidental spokesman said. Occidental announced in April that it intended to sell the units to LaSalle. However, terms weren’t announced at that time. Occidental acquired the units as part of its $3-billion takeover of MidCon Corp. last year.
