A suspected prostitute and her pimp, both once accused by Fresno police of attempted murder because she is a carrier of an AIDS-related virus, have had another charge against them dropped. Fresno Municipal Judge John Gallagher agreed with a defense claim that the charge--of willfully exposing others to an AIDS-related virus--was worded too vaguely. He dismissed the charges against Stephanie Smith, 36, and Reginald McMillan, 33, but gave prosecutors until today to refile amended complaints. The district attorney’s office said the charges will be refiled by the deadline. The judge’s decision left Smith and McMillan each facing only a single misdemeanor count of prostitution.
