Grumman Aerospace Corp. won a record $841-million contract today to give the rapidly growing space station project “arms and legs” in the form of crucial engineering support, NASA announced.

Grumman’s Space Station Program Support Division in Bethpage, N.Y., will now negotiate the actual details of the cost-plus-award-fee contract, by far the largest contract yet awarded in the $14-billion space station program. TRW’s Space Station Services Division of Redondo Beach, Calif., was the only other company to submit a proposal.
