A retired mechanic who opened fire on a Mount Pleasant, Iowa, City Council meeting, killing the mayor, was sentenced to life in prison. Ralph Orin Davis, 69, was convicted last month of killing Mayor Edward King and wounding council members Joann Sankey and Ronald Dupree in the dispute over damage to his basement from a backed-up city storm sewer.
