. . . An ABC sports announcer praised basketball star Michael Jordan last weekend for being “a credit to his society.” We wonder how often he ventures such a comment about a white player.

. . . What a coincidence! Donna Dixon and hubby Dan Aykroyd are making another movie together--Orion’s “Couch Trip.” A Dixon rep said her client was signed to the project before Dan: “They came to Donna first. They didn’t even call Dan’s agent until after they’d contacted hers.” Kinda reminds us of her teaming with Aykroyd in “Spies Like Us.” Back in ‘85, the statuesque blonde told Daily Variety’s Army Archerd: “One day Dan (who co-wrote the film) came home with tears in his eyes after reading with two other girls. ‘You should do this part,’ he said. ‘(Even) if I wasn’t married to you, I would have told (director John) Landis that you should play it.’ ”

. . . Bud Cort, talking to our own Roderick Mann, reported that he “turned down everything” for years after “Harold and Maude.” Well, not quite everything. We’re aware of at least the title role in “Hitler’s Son” (never released here) and a co-starring part with Robby Benson in something called “Die Laughing.”

. . . Turner Broadcasting System Inc., owner of that huge vault of MGM classics, apparently considers the debate about colorization over. Consider this excerpt from their annual report: “Colorization makes films more marketable to an audience unaccustomed to black-and-white. More important, however, the conversion to color will attract younger audiences and help to perpetuate these memorable classics.”
