Hawthorne : $35.8-Million Budget OKd
The City Council approved a $35.8-million budget for 1987-88, about $1.2 million less than proposed by City Manager R. Kenneth Jue.
The cuts, affecting several departments, were made in the general fund, which dropped from a proposed $20.9 million to $19.7 million.
The city is still negotiating with five employee groups, whose salary increases in the past averaged 3.5%. Jue said he has set aside about $1 million to provide salary increases for the city’s 324 employees.
