Reagan Meets Kin of Sailor Killed on Stark
President Reagan met briefly Wednesday with the wife and son of one of the 37 sailors killed in the Iraqi missile attack on the frigate Stark.
Before leaving for a speaking engagement in Connecticut, Reagan met with Barbara Kaiser and her 5-year-old son, John. Kaiser’s husband, Senior Chief Petty Officer Stephen Kaiser, was killed in the May 17 Iraqi attack in the Persian Gulf.
Presidential Spokesman Marlin Fitzwater said Barbara Kaiser and her son had been in Bahrain when the President attended a memorial service for the sailors in Melbourne, Fla., and Reagan wanted to express his sympathy to her.
