The Controversy Over Pit Bulls

Share

Your editorial was excellent, showing us a sensible solution to an existing problem.

Having myself been forced to fight off the attack of a neighbor’s “pet” pit bull dogs, as well as having to pay hundreds of dollars worth of vet bills and untold mental agony to try to help a 3-month-old thoroughbred colt survive an attack so savage that a piece of his skull was removed, I wholeheartedly agree with your remedy of having an alleged attacking dog impounded for observation as well as giving the owner of the offending dog an opportunity to refute the charges.

I have found that most owners of such dogs seem to be blind to the ferociousness of their animals as well as an abysmal ignorance of their responsibility for the damages done by their animals.

Maybe the actual confiscation of their animals will awaken them to their responsibilities.
