Bomber--A good hold. A placement or handhold, anything solid or comfortable that isn’t likely to break loose under weight.

Bucket--Depression in rock, usually has a lip on it for better hold.

Chickenhead or Knob--An outcropping of rock that is easy to grab, step or tie off on.

Cratering--Falling to the ground.

Firing routes--Climbing exceptionally fast and in good style without falling.

Gobi--A small tear on hand or finger from climbing. More common in crack climbing.

Gumby--An inept climber.

Jugs--An inverted bucket, but still a good hold.

Microedge--Very thin crevice on which to hold.

Dime edge--A bit thicker than microedge.

Peel--To lose all adhesion to the rock.

Poser--A climber who wears fancy outfits but rarely performs with exceptional skill.

Pro--Safety equipment such as ropes, bolts and pitons, used by a climber.

Slopers--Rounded holds, like knobs, usually easy to hold unless the edge is thicker than hand’s grip.

Slopping--Falling, part or all the way down.

Taking a whipper or winger; logging air time--Falling, then being caught by the rope and swung side to side.
