Home Federal Savings & Loan has signed a definitive purchase agreement with Gibraltar Savings to acquire four of Gibraltar’s San Diego County offices. The S&Ls; declined to discuss a sale price but the four branches have total deposits of about $58 million, according to Home Federal.

The branches are in Mira Mesa, Point Loma, National City and Lemon Grove. Home Federal will move from its storefront office in the Sweetwater Town and Country shopping center in National City to Gibraltar’s larger, free-standing office at the same center.

Home Federal will retain all of the Gibraltar employees, but some people may be relocated to other branches, a spokeswoman said.

The acquisitions “provide an efficient means of increasing market share and improving our presence in some target areas, especially in San Diego County,” said Jim Stutz, Home Federal executive vice president of consumer services.

Home Federal, with more than $12 billion in assets, has 166 offices in California.
