Southern California Edison Co. profit rose slightly in the second quarter, to $199.8 million from $194.1 million. The Rosemead-based utility noted that the increase was achieved despite a reduction by the California Public Utilities Commission in the firm’s authorized rate of return on common equity from 14.6% to 13.9% this year.
