Tyne Daly of “Cagney & Lacey” is starring in a TV movie under the direction of her husband, Georg Stanford Brown. In “Kids Like These,” she plays the crusading mother of a child with Down’s Syndrome. Richard Crenna portrays her husband and Martin Balsam plays her father. The film will be shown on CBS next season.

Joseph Campanella is joining the cast of “Mama’s Family,” the syndicated comedy series that stars Vicki Lawrence as the feisty old character she originally created on “The Carol Burnett Show.” Starting next season, Lawrence will go back to high school, where she’ll encounter Campanella as a teacher who is interested in more than her education.

Sidney Sheldon’s novel “Windmills of the Gods” will be turned into a four-hour miniseries for CBS, with Jaclyn Smith and Robert Wagner in the leading roles. She plays a college professor who is named ambassador to Romania; he plays a diplomat who assists her and tries to protect her against threatened assassination.

Luciano Pavarotti will be featured in a new program on public television’s “Great Performances” next season. It’s being taped in Naples. Other programs in the 1987-88 season will include productions of “Aida” and “Don Giovanni.”
