Chrysler posted a 12.2% drop in second-quarter earnings to $428.7 million. The Highland Park, Mich., car maker said earnings in the year-ago period were inflated by the sale of Chrysler’s interest in French auto maker Peugeot. Discounting that sale, Chrysler’s earnings were up 20.3%, a gain attributed to an emphasis on trucks and high-profit cars. While Chrysler’s domestic car sales have fallen 15.6% so far this year, its domestic truck sales are up 25%.
