Police on Tuesday arrested a Santa Rosa man after a 100-m.p.h. chase in which officers pursued a motorcyclist along Interstate 405 from Beach Boulevard in Westminster to Costa Mesa.

Westminster Police Lt. Bob Burnett said Scott J. Patterson, 27, was charged with possession of a stolen motorcycle and resisting arrest.

Police said a speeding cyclist exited the freeway at Bristol Street and slipped in a service entrance to the Bristol Park Medical Group building at Bristol and Baker streets.

Elizabeth Dellavedova, a receptionist, said a man entered the building around 6:30 p.m. through an door on Baker Street. About five minutes later, she said, police arrived and ordered everyone out of the building. She estimated that about 25 people, including several patients, were evacuated.

Santa Ana police and Sheriff’s Department dogs searched after other efforts to force the man out of the evacuated building failed.

“The subject was warned to give himself up” or the dogs would be sent in, Burnett said. “When the suspect refused, the dogs were sent in.”

Patterson was arrested after suffering several dog bites. He was taken to Coastal Communities Hospital for treatment. He was later booked into Orange County Jail.
