Abandoning a position that was less than a week old, the British actors’ union, Equity, has returned to its long-standing policy of banning the sale of television and broadcasting rights to white-dominated South Africa, a spokesman said Tuesday. “The council resolved that the decisions taken by referendums of the entire membership must be binding on the union until and unless they are reversed either by another referendum or by a decision of the courts,” a spokeswoman explained.
