The management structure of the Metropolitan Opera will evolve somewhat in the near future as general manager Bruce Crawford assumes some of the artistic authority now vested in artistic director and conductor James Levine, the New York Times reported Thursday. Levine, whose current contract runs until 1991, denied rumors of an impending resignation and said he wanted some time away from administrative duties at the Met to devote to guest conducting and new projects. Levine is currently rehearsing Arnold Schoenberg’s “Moses und Aron” at the Salzburg Festival in Austria.
