Former Monterey County senior deputy coroner Paul Crossman, 45, was found guilty of stealing $34,000 in gold coins and several handguns from the scenes of criminal investigations. Dist. Atty. Collier Vale said that Crossman first came under suspicion when his girlfr1768255076finding what she called “coroner’s booty.” Investigators then obtained a search warrant and found several old guns and $34,000 in gold coins that had been taken from a crime scene in 1982. Crossman, who worked for the coroner’s office for 12 years, was relieved of his duties last August when the investigation began. He faces a possible four-year prison sentence.
