Torres Gets Probation, Fine for Drunk Driving
State Sen. Art Torres (D-Los Angeles) entered a plea of no contest Thursday to a misdemeanor charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
Municipal Judge John Sapunor placed Torres on three years’ probation and fined him $827. Torres did not appear in court, and the plea was entered by his attorney.
Torres was arrested Sunday on a downtown Sacramento street after his state-leased car came to a skidding stop at the rear of a patrol car parked with its hazard and amber lights flashing, police said. Officers said Torres failed the field sobriety test.
