A senior Angolan official said his country is prepared to be flexible over the timing and extent of a withdrawal of Cuban troops from southern Angola as part of a regional peace process. But Deputy Foreign Minister Venancio de Moura accused the United States, which is involved in the process, of making demands without being ready to give in return. The United States and South Africa have asked for a total withdrawal of Cuban troops from Angola as a condition for implementing a U.N. proposal for the independence of neighboring Namibia.
