A sick, orphaned porpoise of a species rarely seen by humans survived its fifth day in captivity Saturday, but its chances of living in the alien environment of a theme park remained slim. “She’s holding her own,” said Mary O’Herron, spokeswoman for Marine World-Africa USA in Vallejo where the infant porpoise named Miwok is cared for in a tank instead of the ocean depths where Dall’s porpoises usually live. “We’re absolutely amazed she has made it this far,” O’Herron said. “She’s not getting any better but she’s not getting any worse either. At best, though, her chances of surviving are very, very slim.”
