Fullerton : College District Names Communications Head

Donna Hatchett, veteran Orange County community college public affairs specialist, has been named to the newly created post of director of communication in the North Orange County Community College District, Chancellor James S. Kellerman announced Thursday.

Kellerman said Hatchett will assume the new job on Monday. Her duties will include overseeing a new fund-raising foundation for the college district. She is now the director of community relations and development in the Saddleback Community College District, a post she has held since 1985.

Previously, Hatchett served six years as public information officer for the Rancho Santiago Community College District.

In her new position in North Orange County Community College District, which is based in Fullerton, Hatchett will handle media relations, marketing planning, publications and the district’s new foundation to raise funds for educational projects, Kellerman said.

“We are very pleased to have found someone of Ms. Hatchett’s caliber to serve in this important role,” Kellerman said.

A resident of Fullerton, Hatchett, 41, is president of the statewide Community College Public Relations Organization. She also coordinates the community college activities of the Conference of the Council for Advancement and Support of Education.

North Orange County Community College District governs Cypress College and Fullerton College. Hatchett is a graduate of Fullerton College and Cal State Fullerton. She has a master’s degree in management from the University of Redlands.
