Soviets Report Rail ‘Disaster’

MOSCOW — A passenger train slammed into a freight train in southern Russia and some people aboard were killed, the state-run Tass press agency said today.
Tass did not say how many passengers or crew members died in the wreck at Kamenskaya Station east of the city of Donetsk, but it termed the accident a “disaster.” The dispatch’s wording indicated the loss of life could be high.
