EAST HAMPTON, N. Y. — Business seemed better than ever during the four-day shark scare that closed 15 miles of beaches on Long Island, the president of the East Hampton Chamber of Commerce said Tuesday.
“We had an awful lot of curiosity seekers,” William Ritter said. “They came out to see what was going on on the beach, even though they couldn’t go in the water.”
The beaches from Montauk to East Hampton on the island east of New York City were reopened Tuesday morning.
