Passengers from a Northwest Airlines jumbo jet that was forced down at Anchorage spent the night on cots supplied by the Red Cross because all the hotels in town were full. Sue Lamunyon, director of emergency services for the Red Cross, said the Boeing 747 was enroute to Tokyo from San Francisco with about 400 passengers when it had to turn back to Anchorage after developing engine problems over the North Pacific.
