S. Africa Strikers Hurt in Clash

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa —
At least 76 black strikers were injured today when police and security officers fired rubber bullets at 700 strikers who refused to disperse and began throwing stones, the mine owners reported.
The clash at Anglo American Corp.’s Western Deep Levels gold mine, west of Johannesburg, was the biggest yet during the nationwide walkout by mine workers.
