Motion Is Filed to Revoke Jerry Robinson’s Probation

Raider linebacker Jerry Robinson, on probation for the past two years on a reckless driving conviction, could have probation revoked because of recent drug arrests, officials said.

The motion to revoke Robinson’s probation was filed on Thursday by the district attorney’s office, spokesman Al Albergate said Friday. A hearing has been scheduled Sept. 8.

Robinson was arrested last month in the Palos Verdes area and charged with two felony counts of possession of cocaine and codeine.

He was also charged with three misdemeanors in connection with the July 16 arrest, including being under the influence of a controlled substance and driving under the influence of drugs, Albergate said.

A Torrance municipal judge will decide whether Robinson should be allowed to participate in a drug rehabilitation program.

If he is permitted to enter the program, all charges except driving under the influence of drugs could be dismissed, Albergate said.

However, if probation is revoked, Robinson would not be able to enter the program. He also could serve 90 days in jail on a sentence that was suspended when he was placed on probation in 1985.
