New Rules for Crowded Skies

Share

Now that President Reagan has personally experienced a near-miss in his helicopter, he might be more interested in putting our Air Safety Trust Fund to its correct use.

With more airline near-misses occurring every week, is it not now time to use the money to put crash avoidence systems in all aircraft? I understand that several companies have proven systems that could help prevent mid-air collisions and save thousands of lives.

This trust fund is fed by us--8% of the air fare we pay goes into it. I am sure that most users of airlines would like this money spent on air safety. Currently Reagan is using the $5.5 billion in the fund to offset the huge national deficit. How can this man sleep at night knowing that his petty priorities affect all who fly our skies?
