Ryan Knight Rushes for 64 Yards, 2 Touchdowns in USC Scrimmage

Tailback Ryan Knight, playing mostly with the second team, ran for 64 yards in 11 carries Saturday, including touchdown runs of 15 and 8 yards, during an intrasquad scrimmage at USC.

Other highlights of the 120-play scrimmage included a 19-yard touchdown run by freshman fullback Ricky Ervins, who played in the first-team backfield with freshman tailback Scott Lockwood and quarterback Rodney Peete, and field goals of 40, 44 and 52 yards by freshman Quin Rodriguez.

Peete threw for 97 yards, completing 11 of 17 passes, with 1 interception. No. 2 quarterback Kevin McLean threw for 87 yards, completing 11 of 14 passes, also with an interception.

A 54-yard touchdown pass from junior quarterback Troy Aikman to junior receiver Fritz Jordan was the only score in UCLA’s first major scrimmage at the Rose Bowl. Aikman completed 5 of 9 passes for 89 yards.

Brendan McCracken, also a junior quarterback, completed 4 of 7 passes for 40 yards; senior tailback Gaston Green rushed for 28 yards in 6 carries, and junior tailback Eric Ball gained 51 yards in 7 carries.
